Respected leader in construction DATEM Inc. launched what promises to be every homeowner’s best bet in a smart mid-rise property with DATEM Horizons East Ortigas, a 2.3-hectare mid-rise residential development located on Ortigas Avenue Extension, Cainta, Rizal.

This is the first venture under DATEM Inc.’s new subsidiary DATEM Homes’ which looks to deliver homes to Filipino families that are “best in quality, expertly innovative yet fairly priced” backed by DATEM Inc.’s 30 years of experience.

Composed of six modern residential buildings with five floors each and housing an average of only 100 units, the development boasts of amenities every experienced homeowner requires: well-spaced units each with a balcony, ample ground level parking, a service area on every roofdeck, clubhouse with complete facilities such as a pool, a fitness area, bicycle and jogging path, a garden atrium on the first floor; 24-hour security with CCTV, wi-fi connectivity, and back up power for common areas and basic power needs.

“For 30 years, we at DATEM Inc. have been trusted partners to the country’s leading real estate developers, helping change the Philippine skyline one iconic structure at a time as we brought each of their visions to life. Today, we begin a new chapter in our journey as we unveil our plans for the very first residential development under our own DATEM brand,” said DATEM Inc. president Levy V. Espiritu at the launch ceremony.

Levy Espiritu and business partners Morris Agoncillo and Arnold de Asis have powered DATEM Inc. to its position today as one of the most trusted firms in construction with an impressive portfolio that includes some of the country’s most recognized commercial and residential developments:  One Shangri-La Place, One Rockwell, Twin Oaks, Discovery Primea, MDC 100, Arya Residences and The Mind Museum to name a few with more in the pipeline.

You’ll find the Company’s time-tested experience and value-engineered technology in each residential unit at DATEM Horizons East Ortigas.

“We offer prospective home-buyers a smarter option that goes beyond location, price and size. We give 30-year evidence of experience, expertise, and quality," explains Architect Arnold de Asis, DATEM Inc. Vice President for Operations and DATEM Homes President, as he explains the many innovations the property offers.

“Every home at DATEM Horizons East Ortigas is constructed with quality material and technology found in the high-rise buildings we have completed and are currently working on. Our Wallcrete [interior partition system] and Specialized Frameworks [utilized in partnership with MEVADECK] make the walls and floors of the condo stronger and more durable, and keeps out the noise. One can also find Pre-Cast Systems in the walls, floors and beams. Pre-Cast technology allows the production of structural and architectural elements such as the slab, beam, and external wall created off-site, with the assembly happening on-site. This means faster production and on-time delivery,” de Asis adds.

Wallcrete, specialized frameworks and Pre-cast Technology are but three of seven technologies unique to  the DATEM Horizons development. Stampcrete [decorative concrete pavement], which is used as an alternative to bricks and stones for driveways and balconies, gives a high quality aesthetic finish. Water is managed by a Bulk Water Filtration System and Waste Water Treatment System by Mann+Hummel.  Bulk Water Treatment introduces environment-friendly technology to filter and remove impurities from water, making tap water safe for drinking. Meanwhile, their Waste Water Treatment technology removes biological and chemical waste products from water for safe reuse for cleaning and other purposes.

“Best of all, DATEM Horizons East Ortigas is built on the same values that have carried all of us at DATEM Inc. to the success we enjoy today: integrity, excellence, innovation, and malasakit for our team and for our customers,” says Morris Agoncillo, DATEM Inc. Vice President for Engineering.

Super love love their bathroom mirror! So big and we all look pretty! :)

I Showered with Coco - Coconut Water from Dial

Last week, my fb timeline, twitter and instagram were full of selfies and fansign with I "Showered with Coco" hashtag. Some guessed we showered with Coco Martin (hehe), and some were wondering if we were just creating a hashtag or social media experiment. Can you guess what's behind this hashtag? Read on!

Here it is! I "Showered with Coco - Coconut Water"! Dial has been my family's favorite body wash and I'm happy that their latest body wash has an ultra fresh hydration!

Question: Have you ever experienced having dry skin because your soap or body wash was just too strong for your skin? Or have you ever felt icky and sticky after putting on lotion just to get your skin moisturized?

Having too much chemicals on your skin may not be the right way to take care of it. Being the most visible organ of the body, you need to take extra care of it. So, whether you have skin that is as tough as leather, or as sensitive as a baby’s, the proper care on your skin is important since it is always exposed to harmful elements that may damage and spell illness to your skin.

Bath soaps and body washes are essential to clean your skin from all the dirt and grime you get from your daily activities. However, some soaps and body washes can actually strip off essential oils from the skin that could lead to dryness. One way to address this dilemma is to go natural! This is the perfect way to have your skin clean and nourished for that healthy aura people will notice.

Filipinos are not new to cleansing using natural ingredients. Among others, oats and salts are used for exfoliation, honey for skin rejuvenation, milk for moisture, jasmine for its soothing properties, and flower petals for fragrance and indulgence. What could be new to Filipinos, however, is the use of coconut water in caring for the skin.

For many years, coconuts have been used in so many ways, be it for nutrition, in the household, or in other commercial industries. It is only now that coconut water is being used as an ingredient for body care. One of America’s most trusted body care brands, Dial, came up with the innovative idea of infusing coconut water into our daily body care products like soap and body wash.

The Dial Coconut Water line of body care products is the first of its kind in the market, having coconut water as its primary ingredient in cleansing and caring for the skin. With coconut water found in young green coconuts, complemented by bamboo leaf extract, the Dial Coconut Water soap and body wash are rich in anti-oxidants, which get rid of harmful free-radicals that make skin look old and unhealthy, while the electrolytes in it keep the skin ultra-hydrated and rejuvenated. To top it all off, Dial’s crisp, indulging scent leaves you feeling fresh all day long.

Dial understands that the only way to make your skin refreshed and revitalized from all the stress it takes from the modern lifestyle and environment is to go natural for better nourishment. Your skin is the most noticeable part of your body wherever you go, thus your skin health should be in its tiptop shape all the time.

It only takes one shower using Dial Coconut Water soap and body wash to have that much needed skin care – for a healthier aura people will notice.

Dial Coconut Water is available at all leading supermarkets and department stores in Metro Manila.

Investors in the Philippines are among Asia's most optimistic and most outward-looking, given their willingness to invest outside the Philippines to gain returns, according to the latest Manulife Investor Sentiment Index* covering the second quarter of 2014.

Philippines investors reach across emerging Asia to mature markets.
When asked which region they think is best to invest in, Philippines investors point to developed Asia, Australasia and North America over emerging markets, including emerging Asia and the Middle East and North Africa.

Fig. 1 – Philippines investors favour developed and distant markets over China and emerging Asia

Philippines investors seem less affected by home-market bias than any other investors in the survey. Given a selection of single markets, they show most enthusiasm for Canada (76 points) and Japan (73) above the Philippines itself (51), and show least for China (44), which most other Asia investors rank relatively higher.

When it comes to growth, Philippines investors are also most optimistic about Japan and Canada, with 19 percent believing that Japan’s economy will be the fastest growing in the next two years, followed by Canada, China and Australia. This contrasts markedly with the average Asia investor, 27 percent of whom expect China’s economy to grow fastest, followed by much lower expectations for Japan Australia and Canada.

Fig. 2 – Philippines investors’ views of which markets will grow fastest
contrasted markedly with investors elsewhere in Asia

"Our research suggests that Philippines investors’ preference for Japan is likely related to Japan’s first quarter GDP growth which came in at 6.7 percent on strong consumer demand ahead of the implementation of a new goods and services tax," said Aira Gaspar, CFA, Chief Investment Officer of Manulife Philippines.

“It's also interesting that Philippines investors seem so keen on Canada. We think there is a sound basis for this given that Canadian equities outperformed their developed market peers in the first quarter."

Philippines investors rely on friendly advice, ‘bricks and mortar’ approach to portfolios
Despite their international outlook, Philippines investors place their faith closer to home when it comes to making investment decisions, with 88 percent relying on or referring to family, friends or colleagues as a source of advice – the highest level in the region and well above the regional average of 58 percent. They are less dependent on industry staff, mass media or online sources of investment advice.

Philippines investors also have a very ‘bricks and mortar’ approach to portfolio composition, with 61 percent saying they own investment property (against the Asian average of 19 percent) and 75 percent owning their own home (against an Asian average of 50 percent). Cash and property together make up the bulk of their portfolios. Conversely, they have much lower ownership of stocks (15 percent versus the Asian average of 48 percent) and mutual funds (6 percent versus 23 percent) – even though their sentiment towards equities is the highest in Asia.

“Philippines investors rely largely on their own networks for their investment decisions" said Ryan Charland, CEO of Manulife Philippines. "While it is comforting to speak with family and friends for investment advice, investors would benefit from consulting investment professionals, who could help them build a sound and diversified portfolio that meets their medium to long-term financial goals.”
Philippines investors are Asia's most optimistic

In addition to their positive views about investing overseas, Philippines investors remain optimistic about investing at home with the sentiment index for domestic investment at 59, the highest in Asia. This optimism was spread across all asset classes in the survey, which all saw increases except cash. Fixed income saw the biggest increase, up 5 points to 50; followed by stocks, up 4 to 45. Mutual funds rose 1 point to 36. Property has taken the lead as the most favored asset class, with home property highest at 75, up 1 in the quarter, while investment property rose by 4 points to 74. Cash was the only asset class to see a decline, down 9 to 73, but still remains high.

”Filipino respondents were generally upbeat, despite weaker-than-expected first quarter 2014 GDP growth and uninspiring corporate earnings for the same period,” confirmed Ms. Gaspar. “We believe sentiment was boosted by a credit rating upgrade from Standard & Poor’s and an increase in government spending on much-needed infrastructure projects. The country’s resilient private consumption, rising investment cycle, recovering manufacturing industry and favorable consumer and business confidence bode well for economic activity and a positive earnings growth story. However, investors’ sentiment could turn sour if policy reforms aimed at addressing infrastructure deficiencies and fostering inclusive economic growth stall.”

Dengue Fever Awareness with Calpol

One of the fears of every parents out there is if your child/children is sick. You sometimes feel helpless and vulnerable. If you can just take the sickness and pain away in a click of your fingertips, you will do so. And I know a lot of you can relate that whenever your child is sick with fever ang unang pumapasok sa isip nyo is Dengue. You will check all the symptoms, read or google to know more of the signs of dengue before it's too late. It's like every week I read in my facebook newsfeed either they have dengue or they know someone who is sick with dengue. I have a cousin who had a worst case of dengue and it was like hanging on a thread to survive(thank God she survived!).

And in all cases, prevention is the key! But first, read on and find out more of the symptoms, signs and how to stop fever and dengue. I learned a lot too when I attended the Aksyon Laban sa Dengue, A Dengue Fever Awareness and Education Program held at Makati Shangri-La.

Do you know that the most dangerous animal bite in the world is also the most common and often go unnoticed? Caused by the deadliest insect in the world, the Aedes aegypti mosquito, dengue is the most rapidly spreading mosquito-borne disease in the world and is more rampant in countries with tropical climates like the Philippines. Dengue affects more children than adults, with kids one to nine years old as the most vulnerable victims because of their predilection to mosquito bites. In some regions, dengue has reached epidemic proportions.

The World Health Organization has recommended Paracetamol as the preferred and only recommended analgesic treatment for Dengue Fever. Aspirin or ibuprofen is not advised as these drugs may aggravate bleeding.

Calpol®, a product of GSK, contains Paracetamol specially designed to offer effective relief from the discomforts of pain and fever among children. Calpol® also has the broad suitability associated with standard paracetamol so you can be assured that it won’t harm your child when used as directed.

GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and maker of doctor-recommended Paracetamol Calpol, joins forces with the Department of Health and the Philippine Pediatric Society in spearheading a campaign called “Aksyon Laban sa Dengue: A Dengue Fever Awareness and Education Program” as well as a Barangay Caravan that will bring dengue fever awareness efforts to the grassroots level.

Ms. Susie Entrata-Abrera hosted the event

“Dengue is a worldwide health issue. Based on WHO records, there have been 100 million dengue cases recorded and 5 percent resulted in death,” points out Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Eric Tayag. “Last year, the DOH recorded 204,906 dengue cases resulting in 660 deaths while in 2014, there have been 24,900 cases which have resulted in 100 deaths,” Dr. Tayag added.

Dengue continues to spread due to globalization, urbanization, climate change, increasing population, pollution problems, inadequate mosquito control and lack of community support to fight this disease.

“But the truth is, dengue can be prevented and stopped. The important thing is to know the facts about the disease,” said Dr. Tayag.

Here are the signs and symptoms of Dengue. Aside from fever, other signs and symptoms of dengue include headaches, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, muscle and joint aches, rashes, and bleeding manifestations. If any of these symptoms are present, the patient must seek their doctor’s advice immediately.

“Dengue is a clever and cunning disease,” declares Dr. Sally Gatchalian, secretary of the Philippine Pediatric Society. “It can disguise itself as other diseases. So, during the rainy season, which is when we usually see an increase of dengue cases, it is important to be on the lookout for fever that is at least of two days duration”.

Know more of our enemy! In this case, we need to educate ourselves of the different characteristics of this deadly mosquito.

Some people think once they had dengue they will not be infected again. Yes, you can still be infected up to 4 times!

“While there is no specific medicine to cure Dengue, we can, however, alleviate the pain felt by the child by at least managing their fever, like giving them Paracetamol Calpol which provides soothing fever relief you can rely on, ” says Jeofrey Yulo, GM of GSK consumer health care. “When a child has fever, they feel weaker and lack the energy to enjoy life. So when fever strikes, it’s like they are putting their life on hold. In these times, you need a reliable partner to help provide a feeling of ginhawa that your sick child needs.”

Eliminating dengue must be a community effort. One such remarkable initiative is the partnership of the DOH, the PPS and GlaxoSmithKline, maker of doctor-recommended Paracetamol Calpol which targets selected barangays within Metro Manila with identified high cases of dengue incidence.

The DOH will initially be facilitating the training of health practitioners to discuss new dengue incidence and disease trends as well as updates on its prevention and treatment guidelines. The PPS health committee will then cascade these dengue modules based on DOH guidelines with the selected barangays. On its part, GSK will be bringing doctors to these areas to lead the Dengue information campaign to help Filipinos protect their families and loved ones from this deadly menace.

“You can protect your loved ones by knowing more about this debilitating disease, its prevention and management. At the onset of dengue-related symptoms immediately seek the advice of your family physician. In cases of fever, (paracetamol) Calpol®  is the Filipino mom’s partner in providing effective , soothing fever relief that is suitable for children.” adds Yulo.  “And because nothing works faster on fever than the Paracetamol in Calpol®, you are assured of your child going back to his normal, playful self again”.

The CALPOL® line of products contains Paracetamol that are specially formulated to give effective fever and pain relief among children. It comes in 3 formulations: 100mg/mL infant drops 10mL, 120mg/5mL suspension 60/120mL and 250mg/mL suspension 60mL. It is also available in two (2) great-tasting flavours, orange and strawberry, that children will surely love.

Paracetamol (Calpol®) is an alcohol-free suspension with Paracetamol that relieves mild to moderate fever and pain associated with:
Headache, Migraine, Muscle ache, Sore throat, Musculoskeletal pain, Fever and pain after vaccination, Pain after dental procedure/tooth extraction, Toothache.

Paracetamol (Calpol®) is suitable for children ages 0-12 years old.

*Give every 4-6 hours.
**Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period.

If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.  For more information about (Paracetamol) Calpol®, and its Dengue campaign, visit www.calpol.com.ph or like on Facebook at http://facebook.com/CalpolPH

Lock & Lock introduces its newest cookware and glassware line

When it comes to storing food, you will hear someone say i-lock and lock mo na yan, hehe! We've been using lock and lock for years, and up until now their durability is already tried and tested! I must say ang sarap magcollect ng lock and lock, lol! I think we have a collection of them in every sizes and even our water jugs we use is from lock & lock.

That's why I got excited when I got an invite to attend Lock & Lock Cooking Session. That means, they're now expanding! Not only they have food storage, but they will also have cooking pans available in the market.
The Lock & Lock cooking session was held at Kabila Restaurant in Greenbelt as Chef Kalel cooked and served dishes in less than 30 minutes using lock & lock pans.

“Lock & Lock has been known as a brand the offers high-quality food containers that the Filipino family can use. Now, we introduce the CookPlus line and the Lock & Lock Glass line that offers Filipinos a safe, convenient, and healthy way to prepare and  present their food,” shared Rafael Chua, President of Lock & Lock Philippines.

I need these cooking pans in my life!

They also came up with glass line. The Lock & Lock Glass line on the other hand is made from borosilicate glass. This makes the product durable and able to withstand varying temperatures, allowing Filipinos the convenience to easily transfer food from the freezer to the oven and straight on the dining table, without having to transfer containers

The CookPlus line is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) free, which is a man-made chemical not naturally present in the environment. Most non-stick cookware have this chemical for better cooking quality. However, PFOA is transferred from the cookware to food, which puts people’s health at risk. Lock & Lock’s CookPlus line has found an innovative way to remove this chemical from its products while still providing its users quality cooking experience.

The CookPlus and Glass line offers a wide variety of products suited to different cooking and presentation needs. Aside from this, all the products are made of top class materials that promise durability, corrosion-resistance, constant brilliance, and long lasting non-stick coating for its cookware.

Can't wait to start collecting Lock & Lock CookPlus and Glass line! Will definitely include them in my wishlist! :)

Repertory Theater for Young Audiences stages Pinocchio

As I've mentioned before here, we were able to watch Repertory Philippines presents Pinocchio. It's a perfect venue to bring your family and bond over the play. Repertory Theater for Young Audiences (RTYA) artistic director, Joy Virata aims to enrich the lives and imagination of children with the restaging of the award-winning musical, Pinocchio, which premiered on August 16 and will continue to show until the end of the year at the OnStage Theater, Greenbelt 1, Makati.

“I am very happy that Pinocchio has had such a good response—not only by the sale of tickets and the reviews, but with the way the children react when they watch the show,” said Virata.  “Even the littlest ones are quiet and mesmerized. I hear them singing ‘Buon Giorno’ when they leave the theater.”

Pinocchio features several segments of audience participation where everyone is encouraged to learn the Italian words and songs. Theater, in general, develops a deep appreciation for the arts—music, dance, visual arts and literature—and creates an atmosphere of connectedness between the artists and audience like no other medium. As it exercises the creative ability to suspend disbelief, demanding one to overlook the limitations of the medium, theater also improves language comprehension and listening skills, and promotes the value of culture and people.

Pinocchio is not only a wonderful learning experience for children, it is also a visual marvel. One of Virata’s favorite things about the play is the beautiful set design of the Land of the Toys by Oliver Roxas and the light design of John Batalla. She also adores the costume designs of Liz Batoctoy and Ogie Reonal. Virata always manages to insert a bit of classical dance in her shows. “The dancing of the ballerina and the acrobatic moves of the clown are quite spectacular,” she said. “I also like the movement of Pinocchio when he is still a puppet on strings.”

Beginnings of Repertory Theater for Young Audiences

Aside from Pinocchio, RTYA has staged many plays since its establishment in the early nineties, including Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Seussical, The Emperor’s New Clothes, Snow White, Mulan, Annabel Broom the Unhappy Witch, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Alice in Wonderland. Pinocchio was picked this year because it was a RTYA favorite that hasn’t been done in a decade.

“One day, I saw some children waiting outside the theater for their parents who were watching an ‘adults only’ production,” explained Virata of the beginnings of RTYA. “I thought to myself why not provide children with their own theatre?”

Virata surfed the internet for plays and found one written by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy, the same writers of this theatrical adaptation of Pinocchio, for their company The Prince Street Players Ltd.  “I was particularly struck that their productions were of the same quality as professional, adult productions, and by their belief that this was what children deserved,” she said. The play was Sleeping Beauty, which had simple, catchy tunes, and was funny and short—the principles which have guided Virata’s choice of plays ever since.

“To make a long story short, the enthusiasm from the actors, artistic staff, and friends, that greeted RTYA was so great, I got carried away and ended up with a great set and marvelous costumes which ran way over my budget,” shared Virata. “But, the opening performance was a sell-out.  We had more walk-in sales than any production we have ever had. With only around 16 performances, I was able to recoup all the costs and more. And that’s how it started.  And it has been going on ever since.”

Pinocchio is based on the classic novel for children by Carlo Collodi, the musical Pinocchio will debut on August 13 at Onstage Theater, 2nd Floor of Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi Street, Makati City. Presented by Repertory Philippines, Pinocchio is adapted and lyricized by Jim Eiler, with music from Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy, and is directed by Joy Virata.

De La Salle Health Sciences Institute Bloggers Campus Tour

I've been out of college for years(don't ask what year, hehe) and when I was invited to attend a bloggers campus tour at The De La Salle Health Science Institute (DLSHSI) in Dasmarinas, Cavite I felt a little excited.

The De La Salle Health Science Institute (DLSHSI) was recently awarded with a grant from the Department of Science and Technology for its anti-dengue project. The project aims to explore how local indigenous medicinal plants, can be used as an alternative cure for dengue.

Given that dengue has been a recurring problem in various cities and municipalities all over the country, a study like this is highly timely with the results considered to be a postive breakthrough benefitting millions of Filipinos.

Dr. Charles Yu, vice chancellor of Lasallian Mission and Linkages of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute and head of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology  Assembly (APSR) on Tuberculosis, was appointed as member to the Steering Committee of the International Standards for TB Care (ISTC).

The International Standards for TB Care is an international collaborative effort of the World Health Organization, with partners such as the ATS, IUATLD, KNCV and USAID, that seeks to establish a widely accepted level of care for all health care practitioners, public and private.

Dr. Charles Yu

According to DLSHSI’s Director for Research Support and Extension Services and Chair of the Center for Biopharmaceutical Resarch Dr. Rita Alvero, who is also the principal investigator of this project ,  "The study is based on solid data gathered from preclinical in vitro studies on efficacy of local plants in reducing viral load, vascular leakage and platelet decrease," thus the high hopes that researchers have on the results of this study.

The new building of the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) College of Medicine was inaugurated before administrators, faculty, staff, students, doctors and medical staff, and members of the Board of Trustees. Dasmariñas City Mayor Hon. Jenny P. Barzaga also graced the celebration of this milestone for DLSHSI.

The new College of Medicine building is an IT-based structure featuring clinical skills and Plastination laboratories, air-conditioned auditorium classrooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual facilities. The infrastructure also houses a health informatics laboratory with 320 computer terminals for the exclusive use of medical students as a virtual laboratory and for evidence-based medicine.
The construction of this facility is just among the efforts DLSHSI continues to pursue to ensure that medical students studying at the institution have a nurturing physical environment that prepares them to become leaders of the medical profession.

Carrying the tagline, "Nurturing Life", DLSHSI is an institution involved in health care,  education, and research located along the Mangubat Avenue in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. It was established in 1987 and is currently composed of 3 major units - Institutional Colleges (4 colleges), the De La Salle University Medical Center, and the De La Salle Angelo King Medical Research Center.

Lactacyd's Intimate Launch

$

When you hear the word Lactacyd it is synonymous to feminine wash, right? I first experienced using Lactacyd when I was in my teen years and my mom introduced it to me. I think there was only one variant at that time and it was color pink. Who can still remember that?

And now, Lactacyd has now other variants that will cater to your preference. I attended the intimate launch of Lactacyd held at Crowne Plaza, Ortigas. Aside from launching their other variants, they also launched Anne Curtis Smith as the new ambassador for Lactacyd.

Lactacyd understands that every woman has distinct needs. That is why Lactacyd came up with a full range of feminine care that suits the different types of women best.

A woman with style, grace and power. With attitude that matches her attitude , she knows what she wants and puts premium in what she needs. She needs a companion like Lactacyd Protecting, or the Classic variant, which special lactoserum and lactic acid formulation offers protection from odor and itching to keep up with her every day journey to the top. Whether at work or play, she's secured that she's well-taken care of.

For women who like keeping things simple and breeze through life with the greatest of ease, her journey can be best enjoyed with the Lactacyd All-Day Care. A back-to basics approach to feminine hygiene, this lightly-scented variant contains natural milk extracts that gently cleanse and refresh the intimate area.  It offers whole day freshness for ladies who just want to make the most out of life. It also comes in handy All-Day Care Feminine Wipes sachet for on-the-go hygiene care.

For women who like to enjoy life to the fullest, they need an intimate care partner that will make them feel fresh and cool, longer. The Lactacyd Cool and Fresh variant promises a refreshing day all through out to keep the mood up when the temperature rises. Made with a special combination of milk extracts and menthol essences, this mildly soothing variant not only provides best cleansing and protection, but also natural cooling essences to give longer freshness4 against heat and feeling of stickiness in the intimate area.

“Lactacyd understands that each woman is unique, and with needs different from one another; especially when it comes to intimate care. This is why we now have a wide range of products to meet women's intimate care needs that go beyond cleansing. This new range also comes in a new look to showcase the different benefits we offer; thus making it easier for the women to choose which Lactacyd is best for them," said Aldellyn Po, Franchise Manager for Lactacyd.

“Personally, I make sure to bring out my best in all performances, whether they are on television, film, and even in real life. To do so, I have to be always healthy and confident, and that includes taking good care of myself so I could be consistently on top of my game and focused in everything that I do,” said Anne, who has been Lactacyd’s endorser since 2012.

Five choices for today’s modern women:

Carrying the brand’s promise to provide safe and natural care, the latest range of Lactacyd now offers more choices and distinct benefits that match the various personalities, lifestyles and hygienic care needs of today’s modern women. Made from natural and mild milk-based ingredients, lactoserum and lactic acid – Lactacyd’s unique formulation complements a woman’s pH while effectively helping to prevent irritation and problems caused by bacteria.

For pure cleansing, Lactacyd Protecting is perfect for women who may experience irritation as a result of daily activities and humidity. Thanks to lactoserum and lactic acid, this classic Lactacyd keeps itching, irritation and odor away through its delicate caring properties.

Meanwhile, Lactacyd White Intimate is a whitening feminine wash that provides women with safe and clinically-tested cleansing with effective lightening of the bikini area.   Made with natural plant-based Actipone-B, marine-based Algowhite, and milk-ingredients, Lactacyd White Intimate gently lightens the intimate area within 4 weeks1 that’s why it’s preferred by 9 out of 10 Asian women2.

For youth-reviving benefits, Lactacyd Revitalize is an innovative feminine wash that goes beyond cleansing. Promoting both skin elasticity and softness, it has Vitamin E and collagen which are known ingredients to enhance skin softness, suppleness and firmness. Users claim to achieve 90% skin youthfulness in just 10 days3.

Life becomes more breezy for women with Lactacyd All-Day Care (formerly known as Lactacyd Fresh Radiance), as it provides them with just the right amount of everyday cleansing. This variant combines natural milk extracts with light floral scent that gently cleanses and refreshes the intimate area. It also comes in handy All-Day Care Wipes for on-the-go feminine care.

The brand’s latest variant, Lactacyd Cool and Fresh, helps women stay pleasantly protected and confident with its longer-lasting freshness4. Made with menthol essences and milk extracts, this clear and mildly soothing variant effectively provides cooling and longer-lasting freshness against the sticky-icky feeling down there.

Tips on how to declutter your home by Mandaue Foam

I know a lot of you can relate to this. I am so in need of decluttering! Haha! Read on to know more tips on how to declutter your home.

Decluttering is a great way to keep your home clean and in perfect order. It allows you to manage the movement around the house and ensure that there is, as they say, “a place for everything, and everything in its place.”

Start by sorting through the clutter then classifying it according to two categories: Items you’ll keep or let go. Remember that the reason you declutter is to have a clean and comfortable home. Do it by keeping only household items that you need like things you use on a regular basis and get rid of clutter that’s making your home untidy.

For things that you no longer need: you can donate, sell or dispose it. Be it back issues of magazines or clothes you’ve outgrown, let go of unnecessary items that would only turn into a clutter.

For household items you’ll keep, organize it accordingly with the storage pieces like cabinets, bookcases, racks and wardrobes. These items allow you to put every item in place and utilize space for other furniture pieces. If every item in your home is organized, it will be a lot easier for you to find things you need for you know exactly where you can find it.

One great rule in decluttering is to sort out things one at a time. Start with a room in your home then you can take it from there. You might encounter hurdles like letting go of household items you have for years but when you do it little by little, it will be easy to decide on what to keep and what not as you go along the way.

By decluttering, you can let go of what you don’t need, leaving only a sanctuary that invigorates and gives peace of mind – the house you’d love to come home to.

Mandaue Foam Furniture Store offers a wide variety of storage items like cabinets, bureau drawers, wardrobe, racks and bookcases. Visit the showroom or checkout their website www.mandauefoam.ph and Facebook page --- Mandaue Foam for their products.

SM Eco Bag and Lowe Philippines Exhibit Launch

Ever since we stop using plastics, I always carry one eco bag inside my bag. It's easier for me to use eco bag when I go to the grocery store or when I buy something. It's safer to use also especially if you're commute and umuulan tapos naka paper bag lang pinamili mo? nakow! Hassle sa bangs. haha! Well, aside from these reasons, we should also know that reusing, reducing and recycling is everyone's duty in the race to save Mother Earth.

Speaking of eco bag, SM Malls in partnership with LOWE Philippines held an art exhibit with murals created out of reused plastic bags and were displayed at Atrium of SM Aura Premier.

Called Eco Bag artworks, the murals are part of an award-winning campaign by advertising agency Lowe Philippines. The agency believes that the campaign, which aims to create environmental awareness about the improper disposal of plastics, can reach its intended audience more effectively by holding it at an SM Mall.

This project also coincides with SM's own campaign that encourages its customers to use eco bags for the shopping needs.
"While plastic bags are still used, surely there can be creative ways to repurpose them. The award-winning plastic campaign to promote SM Eco Bags did exactly that. When we choose to reuse, whether it's plastic bags or SM Eco Bags, we are all helping the environment, in out own small way.", Leigh Reyes, president of Lowe Philippines

Up-close, can't believe that these artworks only used plastic to create an art mural.

The Lowe campaign has received several recognitions from various prestigious advertising awards, including two Cannes Lions and has been shortlisted for several categories of the Clio Awards.

We were also given the opportunity to participate by dropping our own used plastic bags to be collected to create a 4th art mural. Can't wait for the outcome.

Kudos to Lowe Philippines and SM Malls for giving back to our environment. I would definitely do my part to save Mother Earth will choose to reuse!

Cordlife One Chance, One Choice

As mothers, you will do anything for your child.  Even way before they are brought into this world, your instincts kick in and you tirelessly worry about your baby.  You want to learn everything there is to learn and more importantly, you want to protect them from anything and everything that can harm them be it the common cold or a fever; and if you had your way, you would gladly get sick for your child.  And your anxiety is not without reason, since there are many childhood diseases that can be harmful or even fatal to children.

Leukemia is perhaps the most common type of cancer compromising 47.8% of all childhood cancers1.  Hodgkin’s Disease1 or non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is the third childhood cancer comprising 9% of childhood cancer.  Aside from these types of cancers, certain brain disorders are also common in children. These include cerebral palsy and neuroblastoma.  Cerebral palsy severely impairs the development of the motor functions and afflicts 1-2 percent of the Philippine population2.  Neuroblastoma, on the other hand, causes the sufferer to lose the ability to empty the bladder, experience paralysis of the hips, feet, legs and uncontrolled movement.

Research into the use of cord blood and cord lining stem cells have been ongoing since the 1980s and has shown promise of saving lives and treating life-threatening diseases.  More than 30,000 cord blood stem cell transplants3 have already been performed since 1988.

When popular reporter, Niña Corpuz, decided to bank with Cordlife, she knew it was an investment in her baby’s and her family’s future.  Like any mom, Niña wants to give her baby the best that life has to offer and her baby’s long-term health and well-being was the primary reason for her to consider banking her baby’s cord blood and cord lining.

“Having my child was the most fulfilling moment of my life.  I never thought I’d be capable of so much love and sacrifice until I gave birth to my wonderful kids.” said Corpuz.  “Every day is just a joy and as early as now, I think of the many things my child and I will do, experience, and share.  I invested in my baby’s cord blood and cord lining because I want to be sure that my baby is given the best investment I could ever give.”

“The strides made in cord blood transplantation has made this manner of treating diseases more widely accepted by people,” said Dr. Arvin Faundo, Cordlife Philippines Medical Director. “Currently, umbilical cord blood transplant is considered as one of the standard forms of treatments for leukemia, among others. Also, many clinical trials4, 5 worldwide are ongoing for which the results are encouraging. In fact, Duke Medicine is studying the use of umbilical cord blood stem cells6 to treat autism and related brain disorders. While the trials are still in the initial phases, we are hopeful that these will yield positive results.”

Last June, Duke Medicine received USD 15 million funding by Atlanta-based Marcus Foundation. Apart from treating patients based in the United States, Duke Medicine has also opened its door for possible participants from outside of the country provided they meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria7 to be considered, patients must be aged between 24 months and 72 months old. The patient would also need to travel at least three times to Duke Medicine in the United States – at the infusion, the six- and 12-month follow up stages. A stipend worth U$1,000 will likewise be provided to the trial participant per trip to help defray travel expenses.

Today, Cordlife has served over 3,000 families in the Philippines alone and is trusted by 100,000 parents8 worldwide.

“We are definitely seeing a growing acceptance and openness of the Filipino market to the idea of umbilical cord lining and cord blood banking because I believe that the parents are now more proactive in finding better means to complete their family’s health protection plan.” said Michael Arnonobal, Cordlife Philippines Managing Director. “More importantly, today’s mothers see investing in their children and families as paramount to ensuring their legacy and their well-being.”

Free In My Skin Movement with Physiogel

I've attended many skin care campaigns but Physiogel's Free In My Skin Movement not only touched the sensitive side of beauty but also showed us that not only we have the freedom to make decisions but also pursue our dreams and passions.

GlaxoSmithKline, makers of Physiogel®, launches the Free In My Skin Movement to free women from dry, sensitive skin.
The Free In My Skin Movement empowers every Filipina to be free from dry, sensitive skin and to confidently embrace life and achieve their dreams and aspirations.

The ever lovely Patti Laurel-Filart hosted the event.

The Free in My Skin Movement aims to empower women to fully embrace and participate in life by freeing them from dry and sensitive skin, because having dry and sensitive skin can serve as a hindrance for women to fully function to their best abilities. This movement also aims to honor smart, strong, sensitive women who have faced their insecurities (physically and emotionally) and are now embracing and living life to the fullest.

“The Free in My Skin movement is not just about creating a nurturing community of  smart, strong and sensitive women, but is also as a way of honoring these women who didn’t let their dry-skin insecurities prevent them from being the best versions of themselves,” says General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare, Mr. Jeoffrey Yulo.

TV host and entrepreneur Patti Grandidge led the movement. And I can't believe her confession that she overcame her insecurities and had also suffered from dry and sensitive skin. Because if you've seen her in person, she's so flawless, simple and very pretty.

“We used to travel a lot when I was younger and getting exposed to different climates took a toll on my skin, making it sensitive, itchy, red and dry. This made me quite insecure, and in the business I am in, it is always about first impressions,” she said.

Patti knew that if she wanted to be in control of her life and achieve her goals, she had to overcome her insecurities, starting with her skin.

“Unlike ordinary moisturizers I used before, Physiogel® made my skin less sensitive and dry. My skin became so much softer, smoother and definitely healthier.”

“With Physiogel, I became free from dry and sensitive skin – to get going, to get out there and just be who I really am. So, now I truly believe in the power of having good skin. It gave me the power to feel empowered, to feel free. I became free in my skin. And this is why I have been rallying for this movement to reach out to so many women out there,” declares the Free in My Skin embodiment.

Physiogel® is the only skincare product that has the patented advanced Physiogel BioMimic Technology® that works naturally with your skin to make it less sensitive and dry. Like a jigsaw puzzle, your skin's natural lipid layers form a matrix, helping to lock the moisture within. This allows Physiogel® to repair dehydrated skin, rehydrate the essential barriers and also revitalize the skin―keeping it healthy from within. Physiogel® is free from perfumes, preservatives or colorants.

Patti and these 2 lovely ladies honored 3 women in their lives who inspired them.

And I honor these smart, strong, sensitive women in my life and it's none other than my Mommy, my 2 sisters Jaz and Joy. They inspire me to be a good mom, daughter and sister(ate) to them.

Obligatory pix with Ms. Patti! I'm really a fan! hehe

Start your own Free In My Skin Movement and make them your status. Think of 3 women who inspires you and tag them in your status so they can pay it forward too. In doing this, we can reach out to more women who wants to be free in their skin.

A new wave of cooking has finally arrived. And it is about to change the way you do things around the kitchen.

With the lifestyles of modern homemakers changing at a fast pace, lengthy and tedious meal preparations have become quite a challenge for champions of the household. In the kitchen, it is no longer just about how food is prepared—more importantly, it is about how fast and easy the task can be done.

Midea, the global brand. Known as one of the world’s largest producer of consumer appliances, its latest kitchen appliance line—titled A New Wave of Cooking—aims to solve the food-preparation woes of Filipino households.
Microwave meals for us low as P1
Leading Midea’s kitchen range is its all-new microwave ovens, which let people cook basic meals for as low as P1.  These appliances save on electrical consumption, as it is twice as fast as a regular stove—making it friendlier to electricity bills.

Midea microwaves also come with sleek silver-mirror finishes that can smarten the aesthetics of any kitchen.

“While meal preparation appears to be such a mundane part of our daily tasks, it actually has considerable weight in our way of life because it affects how we manage our time and, more importantly, our health and well being,” said Phillip Trapaga, General Manager of Midea Philippines during the product launch event.

According to Trapaga, there are three essential factors that are considered when cooking: meal preparation, nutritional value, and cost. He added, “Midea's new kitchen range presents solutions for each of these.”

According to Pengson, “People often have misconceptions about microwave ovens—claiming that they blow-up electricity bills. But it is all about the quality and efficiency of your appliances.”

He attested, “Actually, you can cook using the microwave. In fact, microwaves can prepare meals that are just as nutritious (or even more) as the ones we prepare the traditional way.”
Midea’s microwave ovens are perfect for quick and easy-to-cook recipes that do not compromise nutritional value. Trapaga described, “Using our microwaves, you can get 10 percent less fat on your meals compared to frying. At the same time, they can prepare basic meals in as quick as 90 seconds.”

Included in Midea’s newest kitchen line are the microwave oven, induction cooker, multi-cooker, rice cooker, and kettles.

Faster cooking time, lesser cost
The Midea induction cooker prepares food twice as fast compared to regular electrical stoves. In fact,  it is equipped with double-coil technology that saves 37 percent on electrical consumption.

Efficient brewing
Coffee and tea are breakfast staples for the Filipino. For this, Midea has a line of kettles, which save-up to 33 percent on power consumption, while heating twice as fast as regular kettles.

Another innovative product from the brand is its rice cooker. This product is equipped with smart sensors that automatically measure the ideal cooking time you need to get the perfect rice, no matter how much water you put.

Trapaga remarked, “As you know, Filipinos have an unbreakable affinity with rice. What makes our rice cooker special is that it makes the grains bigger—making your rice more delicious.”

One of Midea’s most promising appliances is the multi-cooker, which has 19 functions, 12 cooking modes, and 7 auxiliary functions that give modern homemakers the flexibility they need to prepare meals.

The smart way to cook rice

Celebrity Chef Rob Pengson, a special guest during the event, shared some insights about his ideal kitchen. He said, “A handy kitchen is composed of appliances that provide the best-tasting meals without compromising energy efficiency and affordability.”

He continued: “Most of the time, nutrition and affordability are sacrificed in favor of easier food preparation. But cooking is really more of an art. Once you’ve found the right tools, you can pretty much create whatever masterpiece you want without sacrificing quality. It is all about investing in the right kitchen partners.”

Trapaga finished, “As the manager of a household, you should never compromise when it comes to cooking. Whether it be your schedule, health, or budget, you can get the best by having the right kitchen appliances to help you.”

Midea is a China based company and one of the world's largest producers of consumer appliances. Established in 1968, Midea has consistently strived to make the lives of its consumers easier with their line of innovative products. Bankee Toys Trade Show

With less than 100 days before Christmas, days are getting shorter and before you know it, it's time to buy gifts for our families and loved ones. And speaking of gifts, I believe that even though "it's the thought that counts", I think our gifts shouldn't be just any gift, right? Especially when it comes to children's gift. It should be useful, safe, durable and fun! I confess that as a Mom, I have trust issues with toys that are bought sa tabi-tabi(no offense) or toys that are not safe health wise. Our top priority when it comes to children's toys should be there safety and they went to extensive quality control. Mahirap na, esp there are toys that are dangerous to our kid's health. Maybe some of you are thinking na dapat mura lang or not too expensive. But let me share what I found at Bankee Trading Toys, they're not only safe, but affordable too!

It was toy heaven when Bankee Trading invited us to their Trade Show held at Edsa ShangriLa. If you saw Sofi that day, ang funny ng pagkakilig nya, haha! Super kilig sya when she saw all the toys that were displayed sa shelves.

I know that it's every little girls dream to have their own Anna or Elsa doll! They will be available in time for Christmas! Yay! Sofi's eyeing this already, hehe!
