Since it's ber month na, I re-read my 2014 wishlist and goals that I made at the beginning of the year. I have yet to fulfill some and some goals and plans did not pushed thru, but I know God's plans are far more greater and more beautiful and will just accept His will. :)

I don't know about you, but I'm getting excited sa remaining ng 2014! One big event that I'm looking forward to, my sister's wedding this December. My prayer lang is ma-complete family namin. Pray with me? :)

Growing up, you will find me curled up in my bed with a book. I started reading at the age of 5 years old, then I enrolled in a public school when I was 6 and instead of enrolling as a prep student, I got accelerated to grade 1 because I passed the reading entrance exam and medyo advance yung reading comprehension ko for prep. Naks! :))

I began loving books even as a kid. I remembered saving up to buy books and I started collecting children's series. Anyone collected Sweet Valley Twins, Archies, Charlotte's Web, etc.? And it's true that reading takes you everywhere! With books, it took me to farthest places, discovered so many things and I learned a lot.

I'm happy to share with you that Scholastic, a publishing company behind Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and other bestselling series, spearheaded an interschool literacy contest poised to become one of the premiere literacy awards in the country—the Scholastic Readers Cup.

I was invited to attend the Scholastic's Readers Cup held at Rockwell Tent. It was an event where they gave recognition and paid tribute to educators for excellence in the field of literacy. The Readers Cup aims to recognize literacy educators (teachers, librarians, principals and schools) for outstanding work in improving literacy in their school.

The Scholastic Readers Cup awarded the top 12 schools whose students read the most number of books from 107 participating schools. The principals and coordinators of the top three schools with the highest growth in reading comprehension were also awarded. Lastly, the head librarians of the top three schools that achieved the highest average in books read by students were also awarded.

In addition to the Readers Cup Awards trophies, plaques of appreciation were given to all of Scholastic’s partner schools and Special Citation Awards were given to a handful of schools whose partnership with Scholastic has resulted to exemplary literacy practices worth emulating.

Most of all, the event marked a significant achievement for Scholastic and its partner schools for recording an astounding ONE MILLION BOOKS READ by students in School Year 2013-2014, a tremendous leap from last School Year’s recorded 230,000 books read.

Father Miguel Samaniego, School Head of St. Thomas Academy in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, commented on AEP’s impact in their school, “We have seen significant changes in our kids. Since they have been reading more books, they have a wider vocabulary and better comprehension skills. Their communication skills have improved too. They now appreciate that reading is enjoyable.”

Father Noel B. Magtaas, President of the Oblates of St. Joseph Schools, a consortium of nine schools, also shares his experience with AEP. “When I was visiting schools before Scholastic came in, I would often visit the libraries, and I would see empty libraries. But when we enrolled with Scholastic, the love for reading became very evident among our students. Right now we have a very happy problem. We have overflowing libraries, and there is an emergent need to create more space in our libraries. We’re very happy to see a change in the lifestyle of our students.”

Healthy eating “is the core of my family’s life,” reveals top mommy blogger Sara Tirona. It is more than just a tradition or a preferred combination of dishes, but a well-loved activity that “brings us together, a chance for us to catch up and bond. I was invited to attend the presscon of the 16th International Robotics Olympiad happening this November 5-9 at Beijing, China.

Students from People of Grace will represent our country in China and they need all the support that we can give them. Many of the Champions in Robotics Competitions had to go through rigorous

trainings prior to becoming the country representatives to an international Olympiad such as the IROC.

jingshan Gymnasium, Beijing, China.The theme of this IROC is "Robots: Stop Global Warming!"

I've known Taters since they 1st opened their branch in Robinson's Galleria. I was in college pa nun and whenever magwatch kami ng movies, Taters was our go-to popcorn store. The food lover in me got excited when I received an invite to attend a food tour at Mall of Asia. And I'm happy to share that Mall of Asia has now an on-going International Food Fest where we can taste world-class international cuisine and savor all their delicious specialties starting September 5-30!

That's right! Starting September 5 to 30, you can now take your taste buds on a trip around the world! And to all food lovers out there, 50 restaurants will participate in the food festival and will hold lots of fun activities, exciting prizes and special treats just for you! Each restaurant will showcase their special dishes exclusive for the food festival. Yes, you're that special and some of the dishes are not even included in their menu yet! :)

During the food tour, we were divided into group of 4 and we were given special task to visit 2 restaurants to eat our heart out. And we happily obliged! hehe!

Our first resto was Manam. Maybe you're all familiar with NamNam? Well, they're the same. They just changed their name into Manam. We asked what Manam means, I thought kasi it's a dialect. It's a play with words of malinamnam.

Manam is best known for comfort filipino food. It's like a home away from home with their home-cooked feel dishes. We maybe used to traditional taste of pinoy food, but at Manam, they experimented and added twist to make it more special.

This Pancit Sisig is new to our palate. It was my 1st time to try sisig with pancit instead of rice. And believe it or not they taste good! The crunchiness of sisig added twist to make it a flavorful pancit. It's not on their menu yet but you can try it during the MOA International Food Fest.

Aside from their pancit sisig, they also served delectable filipino dishes!

After pinoy dishes, we visited California Pizza Kitchen for our 2nd stop. CPK has been recognized as a casual dining restaurant serving California-style cuisines. They are well known for their hearth-baked gourmet pizza, made-to-order pastas and other innovative food and beverage selections.

And for MOA International Food Fest, CPK's offering this new kind of pizza that you'll truly love and rave!

The special dish they will serve is the Caprese Pizza! It was inspired from a salad called Insalata Caprese, serves as a simple appetizer in a region in Italy. The twist on this is that it's hearth-baked in authentic hand-stretched dough with cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, mozzarella, basil chiffonade with fresh ground pepper and extra virgin olive oil.

I was invited to attend one of the coolest baby shower to date. And thought to bring Sofi with me too. Not only we had fun, but I also learned things that I never knew when Sofi was still a baby. Who knows if I can use it in my future baby. hehe ;p

Oilatum in partnership with Smart Parenting held a baby shower at Oakwood Premier where they gathered expectant mommies for a full day of fun activities and listened to talks from experts on how to take care of yourself while pregnant and caring for newborn babies.

It was a day of full information sessions to help ease moms into their pregnancy and motherhood and giving the best for your babies.

All expectant mommies where taught on how to properly care themselves, from the food that they need to eat and importance of maternal nutrition. It really is a huge responsibility to the prospective mother to fully understand the importance of being healthy.

They also discussed the different types of baby skin and when to feel alarmed if your baby is suffering from bad eczema, atopic dermatitis and skin rashes.
