Sony Channel presents How To Get Away With Murder

If you love watching courtroom, legal drama as much as I do, this one's for you! Sony Channel will premier the highly anticipated, tv courtroom drama, How To Get Away With Murder. It is created and executive-produced by Pete Nowalk, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers of award winning programs such as Scandal and Grey's Anatomy and Bill D'Elia of Grey's Anatomy and The West Wing.

And last night, I was invited to watch the first 2 episodes at the Sony Channel Blue Carpet Screening of How To Get Away With Murder held at Century City Mall. And just by watching the 2 episodes, I was instantly hooked with each character. I so love the twists, mind boggling, flashback story of each episode. Really can't wait for its premier tonight at Sony Channel, 9:05PM to get the story rolling. It.Is.That.Good.

My eyes were glued the entire time and was literally at the edge of my seat while watching. I was too afraid to miss a wink, smirk, signs, gestures or any giveaways that will stop me from guessing as each character develop their own story. Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis is perfect to play the brilliant, charismatic criminal law professor, Annalise Keating. She's daunting, intimidating kind of professor, the kind that you want to stay away from, but she's also everything you hope your Criminal Law professor would be.

The story centers with a lot of flashback and current times. I advise that you should really focus and concentrate with each character. As the story progress, so is their involvement with Professor Annalise Keating personal life. With the usual defense-prosecution plots, it has a lot of twists and a little bit of confusing scenes, but that's what it makes it so exciting and suspenseful.

Alarm your clock tonight at 9:05PM, grab a popcorn and tune in at Sony Channel for the double episodes premier of How To Get Away With Murder. I really can't wait to watch the future episodes!

PH envisioned to lead ASEAN in developing standards for the gifted

A Philippine organization is posed to spearhead the establishment of an (ASEAN) Association for Giftedness to leverage economic growth through human capital development.

Non-profit group Philippine Center for Gifted Education Inc. (PCGE), led by Dr. Leticia Ho, is working towards creating standards for ASEAN member countries to ensure robust criteria for identification, development and nurturing of gifted children.

“While the ASEAN integration aims to unite the ten member countries into one economic, multi-cultural community, development of its human capital is definitely a vital component,” says Dr. Ho.

The ASEAN Association for Giftedness will provide a platform for regular meetings, joint researches, exchange programs and other innovations in gifted education that can help boost economies, including the Philippines’.

“Modern growth theory has explained the vital contribution of human capital development in a country’s economic growth. Improvements are closely related to the level of cognitive skills of the population.  This emphasizes the need to identify, develop and nurture  gifted talents for the benefit of the country,” adds Dr. Ho.

An ASEAN Summit on Giftedness sponsored by PCGE is scheduled in October. Dr. Ho hopes that this will stir interest and encourage parents, teachers, psychologists, guidance counselors and the gifted themselves to converse and exchange ideas about how to leverage on excellence for growth.

The summit will feature global expert Françoys Gagné, Ph. D. and his Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent. Professor Gagné, supported by Promil Pre-School, will share his belief in the need for natural abilities to be nurtured in order for one to excel.

With its long-standing thrust of encouraging excellence, Promil Pre-School has always worked hand-in-hand with parents’ support and proper care through the right learning environment to nurture gifts into exceptional talents that can benefit a larger community.

Promil Pre-School's proven heritage of success is backed up by its long list of exceptionally talented children who have brought fame, encouragement, and positive influence to their communities and the country in one way or another.

“Nurturing the gifted is not limited to ensuring that their gifts and talents are properly addressed through education, training, cognitive stimulation and other programs. Part of their nurture is to infuse values of maka-Diyos, makabayan, makatao (being God-fearing, patriotism, compassion). In this manner, the gifted themselves become gifts to others,” says Dr. Ho.

“The vital link between the gift of generations of Filipinos and the country’s success is something that we recognize and value,” says Dian Yu, product manager, Promil Pre-School. “As a long-term advocate in encouraging children to reach their full potential, Promil Pre-School will continually support efforts that allow for exceptional talents to turn into outstanding achievements for our nation.”

According to the Department of Education (DepEd), there are 1.27 million gifted children in the country (2010 data) who may be in possession of exceptional abilities that, unfortunately, aren’t fully developed for lack of proper guidance and support.

Cord blood, gives new hope for Leukemia

$

A video of a mother from Quebec fighting against leukemia recently went viral in YouTube. Her desperate plea – to find a compatible umbilical cord donor, the only hope for her second battle against leukemia. Mai Duong, a 34-year-old Vietnamese-Canadian mother is among the many patients diagnosed of cancer every four minutes. Leukemia - cancer of the body’s tissues that are responsible for forming blood including bone marrow and lymphatic system is among the top eight common cancers in the Philippines.

In 2005, the Philippine Cancer Society recorded 4,202 new cases, 2,243 of which is among males with 3.9 percent incidence rate while 1,959 cases were recorded among females with an incidence rate of 3.6 percent. With an average 5-year survival rate of only 25 percent, an estimated 3,498 deaths are expected with 1,863 in men and 1,635 among women. Normally, the body produces and grows the white blood cells in an orderly way. But for people with leukemia, their bone marrow produces white blood cells that are abnormal either in number or function. The symptoms of the disease varies from fever or chills, persistent fatigue and weakness, frequent or severe infections, unexpected weight loss, swelling of lymph nodes, bruising or bleeding easily, frequently recurring nosebleeds, visible red spots, bone pain or tenderness and excessive sweating at night.

Beyond the physical pain that leukemia patients experience, they are also susceptible to emotional stress and anxiety. And when it comes to the trauma and emotional pain, the patient’s family is no exception.  Studies showed that anxiety and posttraumatic stress are common to leukemia patients’ families during and even after suffering from the condition. Researchers found that childhood cancer treatment has a long-term impact on parents and families, thus, highlighting the need for psychological interventions during and after the cancer treatment.

But what gives the patients and their families a sense of hope for recovery is the life-saving effects of stem cell transplantation, including that from umbilical cord blood. Like Duong, Ryan Foo is also among the many leukemia victims who conducted a nationwide search for bone marrow stem cells. Foo suffered from leukemia at a very young age and found hope of recovery after his baby sister, Rachel was born. Rachel’s cord blood was collected and was processed and stored in Cordlife’s cord blood banking facility. Ryan has been in remission following the successful transplantation in Singapore in 2002.

In 2005, cord blood transplantation for a 9-year-old female diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia was performed according to Philippine Journal of Medicinev. The family had to search for one year before finding a cord blood unit in Japan that matches their precious child. The cost of the cord blood unit was about six-folds of how much it would have cost had they banked the child’s cord blood vi. Recent researches have proven the life-saving effects of umbilical cord blood stem cells in many life-threatening diseases including leukemia. Comparing cord-blood transplants with current standard leukemia therapies, two new studies indicated that leukemia patients who require stem cell transplants but do not have bone marrow donors now have greater chances to proceed with the treatment through the use of umbilical cord blood cells.

“Cord blood opens the door to provide transplants to thousands of leukemia patients who otherwise would not get a transplant,” said Mary J. Laughlin, M.D., of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cleveland, in an article published by the Journal of National Cancer Institutei.

Laughlin, lead author of one of the two studies in cord blood technology published in the New England Journal of Medicine, also added that cord blood has two important advantages on bone marrow diseases.

With cord blood, there is faster identification of appropriate units for transplant. This is important since some conditions require urgent delivery and thus, delays are something medical providers aim to eliminate. Also, with cord blood, patients are more likely to get acceptable transplants because of the higher possibilities in the matching of donors.
Laughlin also added in the same report that they are suggesting the expansion of national cord blood registries to improve access to cord blood and eventually provide patients with more chances of getting matches.

“The more [cord blood samples] we bank the better will be the match and the availability to patients,” Eliane Gluckman, M.D., of the Hôpital Saint-Louis in Paris, said in the same article. Gluckman also confirmed the possibility of cord blood transplantation in adults and noted its growing development in cancer research. She said that “many transplant centers thought it was not possible to use cord blood cells in adults. Now, more people will become aware of this possibility.” In addition to this, a breakthrough in cancer research was recently seen through a study led by the Loyola Medical Center oncologists. They found that growing cord blood stem cells in a laboratory before proceeding with transplant will significantly improve the survival and boost the number of patients who could benefit from it.i

Today, Filipinos can now benefit from these breakthroughs in cancer study by banking their babies’ stem cell-rich cord blood. This unique, highly-advanced service is now available in the country through Cordlife Philippines’ cord blood banking service which helps parents protect their child from the dangers of life-threatening diseases including leukemia.

“Stem cells are at the forefront of one of the most riveting and revolutionary areas of medicine today. While this could be a leap from the traditional treatments available, my fellow doctors and I do recognize cord blood stem cell transplantation as a standard form of treatment for various blood disorders, specially leukemia” Dr. Arvin Faundo, Medical Director of Cordlife Philippines.

With continuous advancement in cord blood stem cell applications, it’s imperative that parents seize the one chance to save their baby’s cord blood. For more information, download Cordlife’s FREE infopack @ www.cordlife.ph or call them at (02) 332 – 1888.

San Marino #WhatsNewWhatsNext For Daniel Matsunaga

I had a great time when I attended the San Marino What's New What's Next Fair held at Mercato Central. It was a day full of fun, exciting activities like wall climbing, trapezing, rappelling. It was also the launch of San Marino Tuna Flakes with fit & fab celebrities like young basketball superstars Jeric and Jeron Teng, Dela Salle Archers’ Big Man Arnold van Opstal and lady spiker Mika Reyes, hunks Marc Nelson and Victor Basa, actress-models Phoemela Baranda and Bubbles Paraiso, showbiz reporters Ginger Conejero and Divine Lee, showbiz daughter Dani Barretto, and hosts Nikko Ramos and Katz Salao.

As a believer in living life to the fullest, ‘Brapanese’ model Daniel Matsunaga regularly does cardio exercises, lifts weights, and participates in a lot of sports like professional football and the Spartan Race, the most difficult obstacle race franchise, whose US competition he wishes to join someday. He also loves to wakeboard and get into the groove of Brazil’s traditional dance Capoeira.
But sports and workout is only a small portion of what makes the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) grand winner fit and strong. The strength to do all his activities, especially after his recent big win at the reality show, comes from a daily diet that consists of a lot of protein that he gets from his favorite tuna.

“Food diet is very important for me. It gives me the strength to seize whatever opportunity comes my way after winning the top prize in PBB. And for me, the perfect diet mostly consists of high protein tuna from San Marino Tuna Flakes,” Matsunaga said.

Protein, after all, is an essential building block of muscles. The more protein people eat, the more they build and strengthen their muscles, which in turn will allow them to enjoy more activities and live life to the fullest.

“I just love San Marino Tuna Flakes. It’s all natural tuna goodness gives me just that – the strength to do what’s next in my showbiz career and sports engagements,” Matsunaga said.

During the launch of Matsunaga as the face of the new San Marino Tuna Flakes, Foodsphere President Jerome Ong said, “We are glad to welcome Daniel as one of our brand endorsers. After all, we created our newest tuna flakes product with millennials like him in mind. San Marino Tuna Flakes will fuel them so that they can do one exciting adventure after another.”

Ong further shared that their newest product is “a dream come true for everyone behind Foodsphere. It captures the essence of how the company has grown stronger and risen higher than ever to achieve its vision of providing total satisfaction to Filipinos through food that nourishes life.”

Fit and Fab Daniel Matsunaga trying out the wall climbing. It was literally a hot, hot afternoon! ;D

After introducing a few years back its fresh twist to canned tuna, the “corned tuna,” San Marino has just joined the conventional  canned tuna market with the newly launched tuna flakes line that comes in oil and hot & spicy variants, and in easy-open cans.

Made from freshly-caught tuna with no preservatives, San Marino Tuna Flakes contains the highest level of protein to help build strong muscles so one can make the most out of life and take on #WhatsNewWhatsNext. This makes San Marino Tuna Flakes the perfect choice for health and fitness buffs. On its own or prepared in a variety of dishes like sandwiches and pasta, one can truly enjoy the natural goodness of tuna and the strength that comes with it.

Thank you San Marino for having me and congratulations on the launch! :)

A new Duty Free Fiesta Mall awaits our balikbayans as the travel retail store undergoes its grandest renovation yet.

For the past six months, the Fiesta Mall underwent an unbelievable renovation under the leadership of French interior designer Philippe Larose. Duty Free Philippines Chief Operating Officer Lorenzo “Enchong” Formoso III says this is part of their goal to make the Fiesta Mall “at par with other global retail stores around the world, but still with a Filipino touch.”

The end result is a glowing Duty Free, with sparkling floors and ceilings that would be recognizable to consumers who have not been to the Fiesta Mall in months.

Coach is the embodiment of the quintessentially American way of making sportswear effortlessly chic; and the current collection by cult favorite Stuart Vevers is now wowing magazine editors, bloggers and other followers of fashion.

It’s a beauty connoisseur’s heaven. Fragrance, skin care, cosmetics and gift items from drugstore brands to luxury houses are all in one easy to navigate shopping floor.

Watch it. Whether you are searching for a dressy timepiece or a sporty accessory, the new watch floor at the new Duty Free Philippines is bigger better and brighter.

With the transformation comes new lines of high-end foreign brands to keep up with the evolving list of selections abroad, as well as satisfy the needs and wants of the Filipino consumers. Mr. Formoso says customers usually ask for U.S. brands, a request that the New Duty Free has granted.

DFP has recently added new foreign high-end brands for bags such as Coccinelle, Ferrari, Coach, Fabbrica Pelletterie Milano (or FPM), and Bridgeway, among others.

Its liquor department is also now fully stocked with a great array of limited edition alcoholic drinks, from champagnes to brandies, which could not be found in other retail stores in the country.

Special vintage liqueurs, limited edition tequilas, and unusual blends of brandies and Scotch whiskies await gentlemen of distinction.

These include Royal Salute 100 Cask, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Alfred Dunhill, and the Macallan 1824 collection – Select Oak, Whisky Maker’s Edition, Estate Reserve, Oscuro, and Decanter III.

Also among Duty Free’s travel retail exclusives is the Johnny Walker Explorers’ Club Spice Road, a complex whisky inspired by the spice markets of Asia, with rich flavor and exceptional smoothness.

Fiesta Mall also made improvements on its watch department, which now has its very own luxurious section in the store. It includes Fashion, Mid Swiss and High End brands such as Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, AX Armani, and Philippe Charriol, among others.

The DFP says it features only the latest watch-models –the same type that are currently on display in Singapore and Hong Kong malls.

Sweet treats. Cute gift packages and delectable indulgences will delight everyone on your shopping list.

Popular heritage chocolatier Godiva’s and American classic See’s Candies of California are now available at the new Duty Free Philippines.

Its chocolate department was also recently upgraded to include premium brands like See’s Candies of California, Ghirardelli’s and Godiva. As if those are not tempting enough, the chocolate section also has amazing promos that are irresistible to mommies and kids.

Looking at the Fiesta Mall’s new and improved brand selections, combined with its sparkling renovations, one couldn't help but think that Duty Free shopping just became more fun in the Philippines.

Repertory Philippines to stage ‘Scrooge’ musical this Christmas

This Christmas, Repertory Philippines is reviving a classic to remind everyone of the true holiday spirit. Scrooge: A Family Musical will inspire viewers from November 21 to December 14 at the Onstage, Greenbelt 1 in Makati City, capping off Repertory’s 2014 calendar.

“I feel that in this generation, the spirit of Christmas is disappearing. It has become commercialized when we should be celebrating the birth of Christ. The spirit of Christmas, the spirit of giving, loving, and generosity are all embodied in Scrooge more than any other script,” said director Baby Barredo, also Repertory Philippines’ co-founder and artistic director.

The timeless tale A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a staple in the theater scene during the Yuletide season, endearing families with the same message of sharing and forgiveness. Repertory Philippines has brought the story to stage for three times—all box office hits using different adaptations of the story. The fourth staging takes a cue from the book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.

Miguel Faustman as Ebenezer Scrooge

The story follows the miserly life of banker Ebenezer Scrooge and his journey towards realizing the true spirit of Christmas through three ghosts: that of his past, present, and future. “Some people relate to the work-earn money thinking Scrooge has. In past productions, people approached us backstage, saying how guilty they felt. The story is an eye-opener. It’s the perfect Christmas show,” said Miguel Faustmann, who is playing the title role.

Faustmann expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness for his part. “My parents used to take me to Scrooge plays as a kid, and I dreamt of playing the role. Now I finally get to do it,” he said. In the past stagings, Faustmann has essayed the roles of Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s deceased business partner, and Fezziwig, Scrooge’s jolly old boss. Alternating for the main character and also in his debut rendition of Scrooge is Chinggoy Alonzo.

With a nostalgic ensemble of 19th century London scenery and music, enlivened by a talented local cast, Scrooge is poised to bring out the holiday cheers out of every spectator — even the grumpiest one crying out, "Bah, humbug!

Based on the book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, Scrooge: A Family Musical will be staged by Repertory Philippines from November 21 to December 14 at Onstage Theater, 2nd Floor of Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi Street, Makati City. Directed by Baby Barredo, the story brings life to timeless classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

Training to be your best with Chris Sports

For those who ask if home workouts are as effective as hitting the gym, the answer is a resounding yes! With the right mindset, a strong will and proper equipment, the journey to fitness can be achieved even at the comforts of your home.

Consider these simple tips on how one can exercise regardless of weather or time of day:

Wear workout clothes
Dress the part. Wear the proper exercise attire to get you into the mood and make it easier to move around and exercise.

Keep it simple
Know your goal and choose the proper exercise regimen, whether to maintain your weight or further strengthen the body; best to start slow and simple, with some stretching to prepare the muscles for the workout.

Fitness coach Ghel Lerpido from Chris Sports, the complete sports shop that offers quality fitness products to athletes, sports enthusiasts and exercise buffs, said there’s a big difference between stretching and warming up. “Stretching provides flexibility and prepares the muscles for exercise. Warm-ups, meanwhile, help maintain blood flow so you avoid injuries.”

When stretching, Lerpido suggests starting from the lower parts of the body going up. Do muscle stretching for at least 40 seconds in each part (feet, larger leg muscles like the thigh, hips, back, shoulders, arms and neck). After stretching, do simple warm-up exercises like jumping jacks and high-knee jumps. For beginners, warm up exercises should be about 30 seconds to 1 minute while for the more advanced, try doing 2 minutes non-stop.

Workout options can be short cardio exercises, strength training, and even 10-minute total body workout. The possibilities are endless as long as you have a goal in mind.

View every home activity as an opportunity to exercise
Whether it’s general cleaning, taking out the garbage, walking the dog, picking up kids’ toys in the living room via lunges or squats, or even climbing the stairs, can be an opportunity to do a little exercise. Better yet, do these with the kids or the spouse for that unique bonding activity while keeping in shape.

Have the right equipment on hand
The best option, of course, is to have the right equipment available. Chris Sports has a wide range of top-of-the-line gym equipment that is easy to use and highly effective for those who wish to work out from the comforts of their own home.

Part of Chris Sports’ exclusive line of fitness equipment such as treadmills and elliptical include Nordictrack, one of the top-selling fitness brands worldwide. The Nordictrack T12 Elliptical and the 2-in-1 Proform Hybrid Trainer, an incredible Recumbent bike and elliptical, are perfect when doing precision workouts at home. Both are great for cardio exercises but can also help tone the thighs, hamstrings, calves, even the buttocks.

With these equipment now available, there are no more reasons—or more like excuses—like a busy schedule, a distant gym or lack of time, or even bad weather, to exercise at home. Just head out to the nearest Chris Sports outlet and start that healthy habit today!

Nurturing Homegrown Talent Can Lead to Country’s Success

Giftedness is a term mostly associated with talent. While most believe the terms are synonymous and interchangeable, Professor Françoys Gagné, Ph. D, states otherwise. Considered as one of the most prominent names in the field of gifted education, Professor Gagné is the founder of the Differentiating Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT), a theory identified and used by international educational authorities to define their target population and plan intervention provisions.

According to the DMGT, giftedness is a superior natural ability that is evident without systematic learning or teaching. Professor Gagné uses the term ‘gifted’ to designate any person who possesses a natural aptitude that placed them among the top 10% of their age group. Whereas, talent implies a mastered skill that has been developed exceptionally well. Professor Gagné claims that for gifts to translate into talents, they must be developed through a variety of catalysts. These catalysts include intrapersonal factors such as perseverance, general curiosity, intrinsic motivation, and ambition, and environmental factors like family, school, and quality of the peer group.

Nature and Nurture Working Together

There are over 1.27 million gifted children in the country according to data gathered by the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2010. A big number of these potentially gifted Filipinos are overlooked because of the lack of proper guidance and support.

While environment plays an important role that can aid in developing children’s raw abilities, it can also present less than ideal influences. Giftedness and talent do not flourish on their own.

“Nurturing the potentially gifted is a shared responsibility of the family, as well as both public and private sectors, if they are to be developed maximally,” shares Dra. Letty Ho, President, Philippine Center for Gifted Education, Inc.

Celebrating Homegrown Talent and Skill

It is not enough to have the talent – It’s how the talent is utilized to achieve greater success in a broader scale, like in ones community or even country. Improvements in economic growth are closely related to the level of cognitive skills of the population.

Professor Françoys Gagné, Ph. D, emphasizes that “individuals, young and old, differ in many respects: their aptitudes or potentialities, their personal qualities, their needs and their interests, their will-power and their perseverance, their investment in time and energy in the development of their talents, the characteristics of their social environment, and the qualities of significant people around them. All these elements can contribute to a person’s level of professional success; they are the ingredients of outstanding success, in school and in adult life.”

Professor Gagné’s visit to the Philippines could not come at a more opportune time, with the Philippine Center for Gifted Education, Inc. bidding to spearhead the establishment of the ASEAN Association for Giftedness, and the country showing strong economic growth.

Giftedness and talent could be a driving force for the Philippine economy to continue the steps it is taking towards becoming a progressive country. Nurturing homegrown talent can benefit the country greatly by spurring its development.

Heritage Through Generations

For over 25 years, Promil Pre-School has been an advocate of nurturing Filipino children’s gifts into talent. With the right balance of support from parents, proper care through the right learning environment, and proper nutrition from Promil Pre-School, gifts can be nurtured into exceptional talents that benefit a larger community.

“We are one with Professor Gagné in promoting the proper nourishment of children’s gifts to become talents. This is one of those instances where proper education can really make the world of difference,” says Dian Yu, Product Manager, Wyeth Nutrition, Inc.

From National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal to Andrea Veneracion, who gave the world the Philippine Madrigal Singers, to world-class performer Lea Salonga and boxing champion and politician Congressman Manny Pacquiao, Filipinos whose gifts were developed into talents have proven to contribute immensely to the advancement of the country and building of national pride.

“This is a vision that Promil Pre-School shares with Professor Gagné. The brand was founded on the premise of making it easier for people to reach their full potentials and become gifts not just to themselves or their families, but also to their community. We believe that well-rounded and fully-developed talented individuals are those who are able to use their exceptional abilities for the greater good,” adds Yu.

Igniting integrity consciousness through films

In its ongoing campaign to promote a culture of integrity in the Philippines, Integrity Initiative, a private-sector led organization, held a two-day film festival that focused on integrity issues that affect our society.

The film fest aimed to raise awareness on ethical concerns and inspire change through the visual medium. It was intended to lead people to think on and reflect about the problems of our society and how it affects Filipinos across different sectors. Some of the films featured in the event were Titser, Last Supper #3, and Transit.

“Our campaign’s goal this year is to reach all sectors of the society to join our campaign. We thought that everyone can relate with the characters in films, thus the film fest. We deem it as an effective way to relate our key messages to a wider spectrum of society,” said Integrity Initiative Chairman Ramon Del Rosario, Jr.

For this event, the second set of activities lined up for this year’s campaign, Integrity Initiative partnered with DAKILA, a group of creative individuals who work together to creatively spark consciousness formation towards social change.

“We want to be successful in sparking social consciousness through films that we partnered with DAKILA. We have seen how they work and how committed and passionate they are with their advocacy. They also have a very good reputation in organizing creative events that promote social change,” Del Rosario added. “Partnering with them will not only make us achieve our goals, but will also pave the way towards creating more modern day heroes, like the people behind DAKILA. With this partnership, we are looking into both parties achieving our shared and individual goals.”

DAKILA is a group of creative individuals committed to working together to creatively spark social consciousness formation towards social change. The core is comprised of artists, students, young professionals, and development workers fueled by passion and strong commitment to serve and inspire people to be modern day heroes in their own right.

The event was held last October 6 and 7 at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 3 in Makati.

Sofi celebrated her 8th birthday last October 20 with a bang! We were invited to attend the soft opening of  Uniqlo branch at Power Plant Mall and she was treated to a VIP Shopping Spree! I can't believe that its their 17th store in the Philippines and they also expanded their Kids and Babies collections for 2014 Fall/Winter season.

The new lineup, which believes that “kids should be free to be kids,” is centered on 5 ideas that should be incorporated in the design of the kids’ and babies’ clothes—freedom of movement, comfort, easier removal, fun designs and safety features to promote kids’ growth and health.

At the soft opening, Uniqlo held a mini fashion show of kids showcasing the brand's expanded collection for Kid's and Babies. And now that it's the ber month already, the hoodies, 3/4's, leggings, warmers are the much needed outfit pieces for our kids and babies.

UNIQLO promotes through its latest global brand concept “LifeWear," which describes UNIQLO apparel as Clothes for a better life for everyone, every day.

Here's what's inside the Uniqlo store. So many cute stuff for Sofi!

As a mother, one way I show how I love my daughter Sofi is to protect her skin from harsh weather, dirt. And we all know how sensitive our kids and babies skin are especially when we are all exposed to all kinds of  harm . And I'm glad I attended the Mustela event and learned so much on how their skin care products can protect Sofi's skin and our skin as well.

Mustela gathered all mommies at Le Creperie, Makati to know more about Mustela: The skincare expert for babies and mothers-to-be.

For more than 60 years, Mustela has successfully developed products to nourish and protect babies and mothers throughout the world. With exceptional formulation for comfort and protection, Mustale products have been proudly handed down from mothers to their children for more than three generations.

Today, Mustela has 4 product lines - Mustela 9 months for pregnant and breastfeeding moms, Mustela Bebe for daily baby care of babies and children with normal skin, Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics for babies and children with problem skin, and Mustela Sun Care for safe and effective UV rays protection.

Innovative, safe, and effective, Mustela products continue to protect babies' skin - as well as the skin of new mothers - now and the future.

And because Mustela also cares for mothers, the brand also formulated the Stretch Mark Oil, which increases the elascticity and softness of every mom's skin. It is specially formulated with lupeol-a natural, patented active ingredient that produces fibers that strengthen the skin to help it cope better when stretching.
