More and more Filipinos are becoming aware of the importance that good health plays in living a longer and better life. In fact, 44% of the Filipino middle class ranks good health as their top life goal, according to the AIA Middle Class survey. With events like The Music Run™, Filipinos are learning that getting in shape doesn’t mean spending countless hours at the gym or depriving one’s self of good food and fun activities.

With over 60% of worldwide deaths caused by chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic lung disease and cancer, Philam Life’s goal is to help prevent premature death and incapacity from these illnesses by introducing Philam Vitality to the Philippines. Vitality is the country’s first science-backed wellness programme that rewards members for living and leading healthier lives, helping Filipino’s address three major risk factors: tobacco consumption, poor diet, and physical inactivity.

Vitality, exclusive with AIA for the region, is present in Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong and Thailand. Vitality launches in the Philippines, marking The Music RunTM Manila as one of its first steps to promote a healthy, active and fulfilled lifestyle.  Thousands of runners filled the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last November 14 to participate in one of the fastest growing fun runs in the world, and experienced firsthand how Philam Vitality is fulfilling its goal to provide Filipinos with the opportunity to combine the Pinoy spirit of fun and community with the goal of getting fit.

During the activity, the Music RunnersTM enjoyed dancing to a pre-party set from rock band Sponge Cola (in cooperation with Globe Telecom) and a warm-up Zumba session facilitated by Philam Vitality’s Official Partner Gold’s Gym. After working up a sweat and getting heart rates up, Philam Life CEO J. Axel Bromley signaled for the first wave of Music Runners™ to hit the track.

The Music RunTM, a 5-kilometer track divided into five different soundscapes: Rock, Pop, Old School, Hip Hop and Dance, cranked out crowd-sourced hit after hit, giving participants a fun run experience that was the perfect mix of invigorating exercise mixed with a full sensory party experience. Philam Vitality sponsored the cherry on top of The Music RunTM, a Dance Zone set in the Dance soundscape of the track where runners could step on the disco floor, strike a few poses in the strobe lights, and leave all of their stress on the dance floor.

In line with Philam Vitality’s commitment to helping people live longer and healthier lives, booths that promoted good health and total wellness were available on the grounds for the runners. Financial health check and needs analysis were available at the Real Life Planner booth, and relaxation & wellness activities at the BPI-Philam station. Sports and fitness challenges, on the other hand, were available at the Philam Vitality station where runners enjoyed invigorating activities and immediate rewards in cooperation with its partners, Toby’s Sports and Garmin.
