We're fans of Spotify and can't believe they just celebrated their first year in the Philippines. I know we can't live without music. Some of us look at music as source of inspiration, moving on. I know every time I listened to music it soothes me whenever I'm feeling down and blue. And I'm glad Spotify has been my source of great music to listen to.

Spotify, the world’s most popular music streaming service, reveals that the Philippines is its second fastest-growing market globally as well as its biggest market in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are absolutely thrilled by the warm welcome we’ve received from Pinoy music fans,” says, Sunita Kaur, Managing Director, Spotify (Asia). “Since we said Mabuhay to the Philippines last year, the record-breaking numbers have been a resounding testament to what we already know about Pinoys and their music – that Spotify is more than just a music app, it’s very much a part of their daily lives.”

She adds: “We want to celebrate a year of amazing music. We are so looking forward to working with more of our fans’ favorite OPM artists and ensuring Spotify remains the center of their music experience.”

Apart from revealing its position as the fastest-growing service in the market, Spotify also shares some unique insights on its music fans in the market. According to Spotify data, the service is being used by one out of five Filipinos with internet access. Almost 60% of music fans are streaming Spotify on mobile, and 70 percent of all Spotify subscribers are using the service with Globe, a testament to the service’s successful partnership with leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom.

“Our exclusive partnership with Spotify is proof to our commitment to enabling the Filipino digital lifestyle by giving our customers access to the best music experience on their devices. With our GoSURF Mobile and Tattoo home broadband plan offerings steadily growing customer uptake, more and more Filipinos are discovering the wonderful world of music streaming through Spotify,” said Dan Horan, Senior Advisor for Consumer Business at Globe.

Meanwhile, Spotify also reveals some interesting facts on the OPM front. Up Dharma Down’s Tadhana ranks as the most streamed OPM song since launch, followed by Yeng Constantino’s Ikaw and Sa’Yo by Silent Sanctuary. The Eraserheads remain the most streamed OPM artists on the service, followed by MYMP and Yeng Constantino.

To celebrate its success in the Philippines and its continued support for OPM artists, Spotify is also set to launch the first-ever Spotify Sessions in the Philippines featuring alternative rock band Hale, who is staging their much-awaited comeback this year.

Giving music fans more exclusive content and enabling local artists to showcase their talent on the global stage, Spotify Sessions is a series of intimate and exclusive performances by today’s most exciting artists, recorded and mixed to the highest professional standards.

Happy birthday, Spotify! Continue on spreading good music!
