The Filipino language has many words for pain: sakit, kirot, antak, hapdi, and more. It’s not surprising, when Filipinos are constantly exposed to different factors that cause various kinds of pain.
Young professionals need to wake up extra early to avoid the morning rush. Limited transportation means many have to endure longer commutes while also exposed to air pollution, changing weather, and harsh elements. Those with cars must go through slow-moving, back-breaking traffic. All these can contribute to muscle pain and headaches, which can be intensified by stressors in the office. In the evening, commuters face long lines for their ride and go through more traffic. They come home late, tired with little time to rest before they have to wake up again to repeat the cycle.
